Meet Chappy Brown

We lost our dog of 14 years in September, and we couldn't live any longer without a little buddy around!  (some of us more than others)  Chappy joined us about two weeks ago.  Jeff had been looking at different breeds, he was resolved on one in particular, unfortunately they wanted $1,500 and that just wasn't in the budget.  He began looking at the animal shelters around town.  That's when he found little Chappy Brown.  He is four months old and from what we can tell we think he is a full breed Jack Russel Terrier.  His first family turned him over to the shelter just two days earlier.  They were facing foreclosure and had to leave their home.  We brought the little fella home the next day!  So far so good!  He has been wonderful!  Not one accident and chewing has been minimal.   Jeff never wanted a Jack said they were to wild.  But not little Chappy!  The kids are definitely in love!  He is a keeper!

OBITUARY

Eugene Jeeves Jerevicious Gelesnic Boyce
(a.k.a. “Gene the Dog”, “Gino”, “Gene the Republican Dog”)
September 17, 2012

The Boyce Family of Henderson, Nevada is saddened to announce the passing of Eugene, the Dog.  Eugene passed away on September 17, 2012 from complications resulting from liver failure.  At the time of his passing, Eugene was age 14-½ years (roughly 98 in dog years).  Eugene was born into a very humble home in West Las Vegas, Nevada.  Eugene was purchased on Eugene Street and retained his name from his birth home.  Although he came from a humble home, he was able to thrive nicely in his new home with his adopted family, the Boyces.  Eugene was registered with the American Kennel Club as a purebred Dachshund.  When purchased, he was so small he could easily fit into the palm of one hand.  Later, during his robust years, he weighed over thirty pounds.

Eugene and his love interest, Lizzy, the Dachshund gave birth to two litters totaling 12 puppies.  Eugene was known for his quick and frantic running around the couch or the house.  He will also be remembered for his deep and abiding love of cheese.  Whether cheddar, swiss, gouda or edam – Gene would relish the taste of fine fromage.  Eugene did not suffer fools lightly; if you tried to trim his toenails or pick him up you were likely to encounter a snarl.  Eugene was a strong and heroic dog having lived through a vicious attack by a marauding Labrador Retriever and fighting his way through a bout with a cancerous growth.

Gene was deeply loved by his family.  Hannah, Grayson and Marisa all considered Eugene to be their older, but smaller brother.  Eugene loved to play with or be petted by Hannah, Grayson and Marisa.  They would often alternate having Eugene sleep in their rooms for a slumber party.  Eugene will be deeply missed by his family.  We are grateful for 14-½ years together with this wonderful dog.  He will always be remembered fondly in the Boyce home.

In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks that you eat some cheese in memory of Eugene.

The Boyces
